Meet the collective

A voice of resistance.
A sound in motion.

Elaha Soroor’s voice meets the restless musical imagination of Kefaya. Afghan folk traditions open out into synthesisers, driving drums, electric guitar and the freedom of jazz.

The London-based collective brings together singer and activist Elaha Soroor, keyboardist Al MacSween, guitarist Giuliano Modarelli and drummer Joost Hendrickx. Their shared language has grown through collaboration, improvisation and a commitment to music that speaks to the world around it.

On stage, intricate rhythms and sustained grooves turn that conversation into a physical experience: music for listening closely, and for moving together.

OUR FREEDOMS
MUST BE WON

Exile. Solidarity. The insistence on a shared future.

The new record moves further into synth-rock, post-punk and jazz psychedelia, carrying Afghan musical influences and Farsi poetry into a bold contemporary setting.

Developed through live improvisation and collective experimentation, it explores freedom as something made together — through resistance, care and the connections that survive displacement.
